Wear what makes you happy.

Thank you for visiting Mountains to Sound Jewelry! My name is Shelly and I am a retired librarian living the dream. I make jewelry, travel, read, sail, enjoy my cats, family, and friends. I'm a Midwest Princess living in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest with my favorite British guy.
I have always had a fondness for art and jewelry which led me to making jewelry for myself. As I honed my skills, my knowledge and love for the craft grew enough to offer quality items to others. Welcome to the next step in my jewelry journey!
When I craft a piece, I take into account color, design, and the artistic elements that make each item special. There are details in my jewelry that are consistent to each piece. I also love a good hunt, so I'm always scouring bead stores and thrift stores for bits & bobs to add a facet of delight and interest to pieces. I also love upcycling with treasures found on travels and at thrift stores.
My design considerations include:
-
The graceful hues within the Pacific Northwest palette provide a perfect template to start, so you will discover the colors of ocean, moss, sand, stone, & wood, as well as other tones of nature in my jewelry.
-
Materials for allergy-sensitive individuals such as sterling silver, Argentium, wax and silk cords, brass, and copper. Brass and copper are well-tolerated by most people & add a variety of color and texture. All metals are nickel & cobalt-free.
-
Czech- and Polish-fired beads for their nuances and layers of colors.
-
Sterling silver wire for most connecting pieces such as ear wires & headpins.
-
Semi-precious gems and minerals including jade, moonstone, amethyst, chalcedony, labradorite, peridot, prehnite, citrine, crystals, quartz, lapis lazuli, sodalite, jasper, & amazonite.
